Visited NYC for work and a friend recommended this place. This is such a great venue for a night out. I enjoyed the outside patio and the excellent food + service. I particularly enjoyed the date wrapped feta, cauliflower and clams special. I will definitely be back. The price is very reasonable for the food quality which is on par with restaurants double the price.
TLDR: Absolutely incredible food, very welcoming staff, beautiful atmosphere. In SOHO? Definitely go to Pera Soho. Not in SoHo? Make a special trip, you won't regret it. When we first arrived, we were blown away by how gorgeous the place was. It truly felt like a mediterranean paradise, but with a slight NYC flare. We were greeted by who I assume was the manager or owner; a very nice gentleman with a hand of the king pin. (If you know, you know) We ordered the octopus, crudo, phyllo rolls and watermelon salad to start. We were QUITE hungry so unfortunately no pictures. However, the art behind the plating was breathtaking. Everything was absolutely delicious!! The crudo portion was generous and very fresh, the preparation was spot on. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the sauce on top was fresh, fragrant and savory with a minimal heat. The phyllo rolls were incredible, reminded me of my childhood christmases with my Aunt's "cheese pie" but better. I only wished there was more cheese in the rolls, but that's just me being a fiend for cheese. Watermelon and heirloom tomato was so fresh it felt like it was just plucked from someone's garden. The Serrano peppers in the salad created a flavor bomb that brought the lightness of the salad to a whole different level. As a "mid-course" we shared the roasted eggplant and greek yoghurt dip. It was like a blend of baba ganoush and tzatziki sauce. I definitely recommend, it was perfectly seasoned. Somehow, after all that, we still craved more. The way all the previous dishes blew us away in creativity, taste and plating left us wanting more. So we went with the Barnegat Sound scallop entree with the pea puree. The scallops were absolutely incredible. I always know seafood on a menu with a specific location is about to blow me away. The scallops were huge and cooked to **absolute** perfection. The accoutrements were also absolute perfection! Between taste and texture, the scallop dish was something I definitely recommend! Our server, whose name I forgot to ask, was awesome. He's a younger gentleman with a beautiful tattoo on the back of his neck/base of his skull. He was very aware of what was going on at our table and anticipated our needs without even asking, even while taking care of a huge party on the other side of the restaurant. That man deserves a raise!! All in all, GO TO PERA SOHO. Can't wait to go back :)
Good service, nice seating, and ambience.. also close to my office! The dishes are delicious, my favorite is their grape/goat cheese salad and the eggplant borani dip. Dinner is also served here along side happy hour. Ideal go to spot in the neighborhood.
Dinner was lovely. Had the Gnocchi with lamb sausage with a Stella Artois. Chef's kiss.
Great food, great service, and great energy! I came here for my best friend's birthday with a large group and they had great group dining/drink specials!
Food was delicious & outdoor ambiance was excellent! Second time there & really enjoyed it once again
Overall, awesome! We had the steak and chicken shashlik. We walked in with no reservation and were sat outside. The ambiance was also super nice. Drinks were good, would recommend and would return our next time in NY!
Pera is a beautiful Turkish-mediterranean restaurant in SoHo that my sister loved and recommended to me. The ambiance is attractive and charming, and definitely a great place for outdoor dining in the summer without having to sit on the sidewalk or close to the street. They have a decent selection of food options but their drink options were much more plentiful. This is a place that I would suggest checking out the menu before you decide to go because there might not be dishes that caters to everyone's liking of dietary preferences. However, the food they do serve is pretty good, not the best mediterranean dishes I've had but not bad at all either. The service was excellent, our server was super attentive, and the food came out quickly. I definitely recommend checking out Pera for a date night, family meal, or even a party if you like Turkish food and ambiance!
(Overall: B) - Overall, I found the fine dining food here to be quite mid with lots of room for improvement. The staff were kind and attentive and the venue itself was quite nice to host large groups, but the food could be better. (Octopus: A) - Their octopus is a well composed dish with a tender octopus leg and smashed potatoes that are nicely seasoned to give a forward depth of flavor and to heighten the octopus. The greens also add some vibrant color to make this dish pop. (Steak Frites: C) - It was smart to use the bread as a canvas to catch the steak drippings and not let those juices go to waste. Unfortunately, the rest of the dish is sub par as the steak was cooked to at least medium well, becoming quite dry. Further, I would've likef to see more of those regional spices tossed in the fries to differentiate from just regular fries. The plating could also be improved as the fries completely dominate the first look of this dish. (Calamari: B) - The cherry peppers add a pleasant sweet spiciness to enhance the fried squid. Aside from the sloppy presentation, I think this is a well executed dish. (Dip Sampler: D) - Aside from the carrot ginger hummus which was quite innovative from those notes of sweetness from the carrot, this dish was quite discomforting. The beer botani somehow mimics pepto bismol in both color and consistency in the form of a dip -- yet, somehow I find consumig pepto bismol more pleasant. I was a bit disappointed that the smoked eggplant was not coming through in the labne as well. -- Food: E Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: +1 Service: +1 Menu: E Overall: +2 B Insta/Beli: @amei_eats
Pera Soho had a beautiful patio outside that had retractable awnings to keep the cold out. The inside was crowded with a busy happy hour so I am glad that we chose to seat out this evening. The inside is quaint and I am sure lovely if the bar area is not too busy. The service was excellent only visiting to make sure we were enjoying our meal and to see if we needed anything else. The food was enjoyable with many choices to satisfy the vegan, vegetarian or carnivores in your group. The photos are a little dark but the food was great. Stick with the savory dishes vs the chicken or the lamb and beef patties since they tended to be a little dry. Otherwise you should have a great meal.
